They'll need to ask you for a new registration code, and you can decide if
it's piracy or not on a case by case basis. Because using HotSync username
for registration is so common, users are unlikely to change it once they've
started registering applications. Some of the Palm application archives,
such as PalmGear, support accepting credit card orders for your product.
They use a standard form that includes the HotSync username. You get the
username and send out the registration code to the user. It's not as
automated as it should be, but that's the system that's in place today.
PalmGear is just one of the companies doing this. They take a cut of the
proceeds, of course. Note that this registration service is independent from
the archive service that is provided by many, for free. I suggest doing some
research on the archives to see what similar products are selling for, how
well they're selling, etc.
