Jeff,
This isn't a full answer, but in my experience, if you have written to the
VFS API, your app will work with all removables on devices running Palm OS
4.0 plus the Sony Clie's that run pre-4.0 systems (they implemented the same
API themselves). The newest Handera (formerly TRG) devices (compact flash
technology) now also support VFS. Older Handera devices didn't support VFS,
but offered an API that made it possible to use Palm's database manager to
read, but not write, databases stored on compact flash cards.
Basically, this covers the SD/MM format (postage stamp size cards used by
the Palm 4.0 devices), Sony's Memory Stick, and Handera's Compact Flash
card. Handspring devices are flash memory, and by themselves don't support
VFS. I believe there are some add-on manufacturers with devices that speak
VFS to desktops, but not to the handheld unless you write to API's they
provide. By now there may even be add-ons that support VFS on both ends.
