I tried placing a file and text section only and analyze the map file: looks like it IS accepted. > You might want to look at Doug Anderson's FAR_CALL work (available in > Handspring's headers), which implements something similar, but using > function attributes that actually exist in m68k GCC. Thanks John. This is probably the second (after Dave Carrigan's idea) time when somebody really tries to help me. If you can also supply a reference this will be really great. I searched Handspring, SurceForge, Goggle, Altavista for +"Doug Anderson" and/or "far call" and/or FAR_CALL but couldn't find the one you refer to. This is probably what I am really looking for. > John "likely will neglect this thread next time" Do you mean I discuss this for "nothing else to do" ? I consider it as a key issue which must be resolved hopefully in the next PRC tools release. Beleive me or not I was just going to conclude this thread, simply because I said everything I wanted to: 1. Current multisection design could be much much much better. 2. A flexible and well documented mechanism is needed for creating a multisection project, where you can use all functionality provided by ld, including "section for file". 3. You might find a different way, as far as you don't ignore this thread for new PRC tools release.
