That still won't tell if you use the hardkey or launcher to launch the app, right? Unless the application cannot be launched from the launcher by tapping on it, you still face the two possibilities.
My wild thought: Can I set the application to type other than "appl" (won't show up in launcher), then bind it to the hardkey? If so, there is only one way it can be run -- from the hardkey.
