David, You are right about recompiling for ARM (in most cases should be no problem - if you followed "the rules"), but I think my point was if you were creating a dev system ONLY for the current system it would not be a "good business decision". I think I did say that if it supported several target systems, including current Palm, Palm ARM, etc. that it could be a profitable venture.
My real point was that dev systems are not a dime a dozen and don't get created daily. I personally think that such a project (for other than academic purposes) is not a good investment. I think that a company with a large customer base that specifically develops dev systems has a chance of being successful at it, but even a software company like mine (and most of the people on this forum) shouldn't attempt a project like that. Dave - as usual, I enjoy and agree with your input. Keith - 68K emulator - That sounds fast. ;<} I hope that developers of dev systems that target both platforms will not depend on an emulator and produce code that runs natively, or they will surely not have much of a following from developers on this forum. Thanks for your insight, too. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Gorsline Easy Business Software ========================== End of Message ========================== ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Fedor" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Palm Developer Forum" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2002 6:55 PM Subject: Re: PL/I for Palm ? > >Personally, I think at this late date in the palm game, that developing > >another development tool is not a profitable venture - at least not for the > >current hardware that will be abandoned soon (as announced by Palm).
