Define a build target with a "Project Type" of "Palm OS Code Resource",
create your .rcp file with the necessary bitmap/bitmap family definitions,
and create a single .c or .cpp file containing:
#define dummyStartup __Startup__
void dummyStartup (void);
void dummyStartup (void)
{
}
Put the .rcp and .c/.cpp file in the target. When you build this target,
you will get a resource database that can be installed with your app. You
will also need to create a .h file containing the #define's for the bitmap
IDs so your code can use them to reference the bitmaps (unless all the
references are in your Constructor forms). In your app, add code at startup
time to open this resource database, and at shutdown time to close it.
References to your bitmaps will be satisfied from the open resource
database.
Note that the combined size of your bitmap resource database and app (with
the bitmaps removed) will still be 400K, so you won't actually save any
space. This will also mean that people can't beam your app using the Palm
OS "Beam" menu item, because the resource database will not be beamed with
the app (unless you use the "bundle" feature under OS 4.0 and later).
