I agree that this is annoying, and against the spirit of the thing.
Many people consider such a restriction to violate the GPL, but I have
forgotten the exact reasoning (David?). But that's not Sony's greatest
sin here, unfortunately...
However, I wanted their SDK too so I signed up. Hence:

Of course, it's not the right sources. But it's a start.
