What do you mean by "external"? --in a database on the handheld? --on your desktop computer? > Again, I want it to work something like the Clie AddressBook > application, which lets you specify, for any person in your > AddressBook, an existing image to "link" it to. I haven't seen the Sony version of AddressBook, but they must be storing those bitmaps in a record database or resource database on the Palm, and they must have modified the AddressBook code to open the database and then display the bitmap, using code similar to what I posted. > I don't want to get into the details how to convert .jpg or > other image formats into something that can be displayed on > the handheld. I didn't suggest that. You can easily use Constructor, or PilRC, or PAR to convert your picture to a format that you can use on the handheld. > I want to let another app worry about those details. So, you aren't asking a development question; you are just looking for somebody else's app to do just what you want? > Do FireViewer and PictureGear Pocket just convert images > from .jpg on your desktop to bitmaps on your handheld? I have no idea. > I don't think that's the case with PictureGear Pocket, I > think it has its own internal format. I don't know about > FireViewer. FireViewer: http://www.firepad.com/products/fireviewer/ (they claim that it's "So easy to use, it doesn't need a manual". PictureGear Pocket: Sony is notorious for not documenting or releasing details about their software, so I doubt you'll find anything. However, you could try signing up for their developer program at http://www.us.sonypdadev.com/develop_info/index.html > Are there other such applications I should be looking into? Try PalmGear or Handango; search for "view picture". There are many. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
