Joe and Doug... Yes, of course valid points with what you said.
I guess my point was that you can't just say "shareware" and "crippleware" because each person has a different definition of what that means. It is one of my pet peeves actually. For example, some people would call the shareware version in the test, also a crippleware version because of the nag screens. (Which is not correct.) To me it is not "straight" shareware if it has nag screens... we don't know how many of the shareware would have been registered without the nags. The numbers would have been even WORSE in my opinion then. So I guess that was my complaint.. yes I know the numbers show crippleware sold more. I also believe it is true that it would. I just think the actual numbers are even worse than test came up with. I read some good info on this in a book called Writing And Marketing Shareware which gave various tests on different marketing of the same program. It was a library book. I haven't been able to find it to purchase it. To me, to have a control we needed to have no restrictions whatesoever, including no nag screens, on the shareware version. Otherwise we are not comparing crippleware to shareware, we are comparing crippleware to "nagware". Some "features" are still being blocked.. even if it is just the annoyance of a nag screen.
