In what way does that make the experiment unscientific?  As described,
the software decided (randomly, with 50-50 odds) whether to be
crippleware or shareware at the time it was installed.  The result was:
more people purchased the crippled version than purchased the shareware
version.  That result is the opposite of your assertion that "crippled
software is less likely to be registered."
