When you say they were gone after the hard reset, do you mean they were gone from the handheld or the computer? The way backups work by default, standard conduit etc., depends on the most recent action. You may still have the pdbs on your computer(actually, you should), but they might not be on the handheld - you might have to add them back on manually.
