Nope... I actually admire the capabilities that tools like PilRC give Palm OS developers. I should have put a smiley after the "said too much" line. Yes, I'm testing some ideas out here. > > I think it is clear from previous posts that Ben has made that > > Metrowerks is working on a new resource creation tool that won't suffer > > from several of the limitations that currently plague Constructor. > > Gee, thanks, Joe, I wasn't aware of that. > > > Since he works for Metrowerks, Ben can't say much about what features > > may or may not exist in any unannouced and unreleased product which he > > may or may not have inside knowledge about. True... I can't tell all the details on the tools I'm working on for future release. However, I can say that I'm becoming a really big fan of manipulating resources in the formats in which they will actually be used on the device, rather than going through an extra translation layer, must like PILA and the GCC-based tool chains have been doing since they came into existance. > Let me see if I understand. Well, MPW suffers from this problem too, but I don't think too many people are using that to build Palm OS apps these days. (though I've seen some really odd questions from time to time) Basically, the native Palm OS formats don't have that limitation, and Constructor and PalmRez put a barrier in the way of using the Palm OS resources to their full potential. > Nope, I still just don't get it :-).
