Hi Jim. I have a similar problem to you in that the newsgroups download is slow. Usually I download them en-masse and read them offline. That makes my experience more bearable.
Regarding the password, I think that is an effort to cut down on Spam. Notice that the web interface attempts to hide email addresses. That is for a very good reason, and I appreciate the efforts that these developers have taken to curb the spambots. I do hope Palm hears our pleas for help and upgrades the capacity of their servers. -Dave -----Original Message----- From: Jim Cooper [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Sunday, July 21, 2002 5:58 AM To: Palm Developer Forum Subject: Unusable newsgroups Hi, I have a complaint about the Palm developer newsgroups. These newsgroups have always been very slow, but the last few weeks they have been almost impossible to use. The conduit dev forum is just about usable, although I can go off and do other things (like read War and Peace) waiting for an individual message to download, but the palm dev forum seems broken. I cannot get access to it at all most days. This is not an isolated problem. Other people have complained about it before, and I'm sure many more would, if only they could connect. I've also always wondered why these groups need a password, when the messages can so easily be read on Yahoo and EScribe. The only other newsgroups I use that are slow (although nowhere near as slow as yours) are some private Borland newsgroups that are also password protected. SOme of us have wondered if there is a connection.
