3) no, don't need it anyway
4) previously installed conduits are retained

I use Serial, USB, IR and networked connected devices with a single copy of
Desktop running on a PC.  Ranging from OS 2.0 to OS 4.1, including Palm,
Handera, Sony, Symbol and Handspring devices.  Not problems to report except
only one can be syncing at a time.  Just make sure you have the latest
version of Desktop/Hotsync.
