This is a confusing point to me because I do not understand how "everyone
gets a chance to handle the notification". It is my understanding that an application
must un-register for a notification when it is closed down. It is also my understanding that
only one application can be running at any given time, so who else (aside from the
OS) is ever going to see the notification?
You can leave your application registered for a notification. If it gets sent, your app will get sublaunched in the running app's context, similar to how all applications get sublaunched on system reset or when you use global find.
