Is it possible to use the executable of PilRC instead of the plug-in in CW8?
No. V8 doesn't have a linker that will accept PRC or RO files. You'll need to upgrade to V9 to get that capability.

In the meantime, I'd suggest upgrading to CodeWarrior for Palm OS V9.
It doesn't use Neil's PilRC plugin to convert RCP-to-Rez, instead it actually directly calls a PilRC executable, has it generate a PRC file from the resources, and merges that output into your output PRC file.
It also comes with PilRC Designer for editing and previewing .RCP files.
