The database structure and accessability should be supported for PalmOS 2.0+, must run on Symbo SPT1500, 1700, and 1800's, and Sync'd with SCO Unix.
Note: If you are targeting the Symbol units, you can presume a minimum OS of 3.0, and, if necessary, require an OS level of 3.5. All Symbol devices can be upgraded to OS3.5, at least.
Palm greatly improved the way the storage heap works for 3.0, so for large datasets there is a real advantage for preventing your code from running on earlier OS levels.
Palm also greatly increased the dynamic heap for OS 3.5, so if you require a minimum of 3.5, you can make assumptions about larger heap.
