In looking through the code in POLColHelper.h, I'm not sure why this is 
failing to compile -- the placement form of new looks to be there 
correctly (with the templated type), and I'm not sure where the 2-arg 
version of new the compiler found is coming from.  Doesn't look like new 
is overloaded here... What am I missing?

Why?  You really should update to V9.2, which comes with a much newer 
version of POL with quite a few bug fixes.
