I don't understand why this has to be so hard. My program uses the serial port. It works fine with OS < 5.0, with the couple of exceptions like the Clie's that have the non-standard baud rate bug.
In OS 5, testing on a T3, Using the new serial manager. I've tried opening the port with all different port constance (like serPortCradleRS232Port, etc) . It never transmits anything and it frequently, intermittenly locks up the OS (but ques the pen inputs) so the program runs really slow, until I disconnect the Hotsync cable from the Palm. Disconnecting the hotsync cable from the device it's connected to makes no difference once it gets into this slow mode. I cannot seem to narrow down why it locks up sometimes and not others. My guess is (and these symptoms are similar) that there is something sitting on the com port, much like the Handspring keyboard driver that I have to disable before using the com port on Handspring devices. Can anyone shed some light?? Why does the device beep when you plug in the serial cable? I'm thinking whatever is doing that is possibly related.
