Sure. While the platform exists you can charge more money :-) > we know how to use it, zero learning curve for us now :) Sadly, I have trouble convincing developers new to PDA programming to use the PalmOS. They look at the PalmOS dev tools choices (and there are a **lot** more), and then VS .NET, and make the decision to go with PPC in about 2 seconds flat. As things stand now, they're going to run into some issues using the .NET CF, as some things just can't be done (at least not without writing unmanaged code), and some areas like syncing are very weak. But they won't find that out until they've committed to the platform, and MS will address the problem areas at some point. I believe this is a significant issue that needs to be addressed by PalmSource. I had not intended that you and John should immediately get to work fixing everything. It's a good thing that PalmSource are providing a free dev tool, but I think it's a bit cheeky using an open source product. But a free tool won't be enough. No-one much used the embedded tools for PPC either, and they were/are free (and priced exactly right, IMO - terrible things). > i am pretty sure you could hook up the metrowerks compiler to the > eclipse IDE as well I was told that's also possible for Borland's C++BuilderX as well. In neither case does it seem to make much sense, as you would already have an IDE if you'd bought CW. I can't see many people bothering, to be honest. > i think you just need a beer there jim :) I took your advice. Twice :-) It helped a bit, so I might try a whisky too. > next time i am in the UK (which, is quite often).. i'll be sure to > drop you a line. *g* Please do :-) Cheers, Jim Cooper _______________________________________________ Jim Cooper [EMAIL PROTECTED] Falafel Software http://www.falafelsoft.co.uk _______________________________________________ -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
