This is going to be a chicken-and-egg-like situation for the forseeable future. Until Cobalt devices start selling in significant numbers, there won't be much incentive for developers to port and maintain OS6-specific branches of their apps. That said, I believe that there is room for network-enabled apps that take advantage of multithreading. At any rate, OS5 and the 68K application model will stay with us for some time. No matter which way you cut it: Cobalt is a radical departure and the transition to the new architecture is not going to be graceful. I don't think it's fair to bash PalmSource for this, though.
