Thanks for the info, problem solved. It is really a pain to have to 
extract this from the code. I am busy documenting this as I do it, 
where should I post the resulting documentation so that other people 
can use it ?

No.  UIResDefs.r is the MacOS-resource format, not the in-PRC resource 
format.

The best source of info for the layout of the resources is the PilRC 
source code.  You've got a copy in CW for Palm OS Tools\PilRC if you 
use CW for Palm OS V9, or you can download it from 
sourceforge.net/projects/pilrc.
