You can also create hires fonts using the tools in the free PalmFontConv
package (palmfontconv.sf.net). You can use the tools to convert between all
kinds of font formats, include FontTypeV1, FontTypeV2, afnx, and to convert
from TTF to Type1. fontconv is very stable for creating hi-res fonts from
pilrc-style inputs--Plucker has been using it for half a year, and
PalmBible+ has been using it for a month or so.
You might not need low-density glyphs in your font if you check the screen
density and use FontTypeV1 fonts for low-density displays. In such a case,
you can make a font with fake low-density glyphs with fontconv which will
scale the high-density ones down for you (very ugly, but if they never
actually show up then it doesn't matter, does it?) or you can just omit
them.
