NetLib crash

I'm using procedural alarms to poll a server (via UDP) every few 
seconds. If after several attempts I get no response from the server, I 
close netlib (passing true as the immediate parameter) and re-open it.

On POSE this always works, but on a device it will crash, either during 
the netlibClose call, or the netlibOpen call.

I have tried this on a Treo 600 (Orange, UK) (happens every time) T|T, 
and T|3 (aprox 1 in 3), and a T|W (approx 1 in 10)
