For me, I first learned the Palm OS from a online tutorial and using the SDK Ref documents and the GNU tools. I then bought CodeWarrior after I started selling my first software.
The shareware market for Palm OS is really big, and a considerable portion compared to the PC Market. I wonder how much specialized development is, I haven't seen figures for it. Either way, shareware devs have like no money to invest in it. And these newsgroups are a big reference. Plus, Ben said alot of the cost was for the building and whatnot, seems all the more reason to go online. Good luck to Aaron. Either way I'll be interested in seeing how these classes go. The free classes had low attendance? that's a surprize... I find that corporate classes like this are very helpful for someone with real budgets in a medium to large corporate enviroment. The people taking these courses have many other things to do other than sip their latte, browse open source newgroups and code in a coffeeshop while watching their PayPal account. Also, the "you get what you put into it" mindset is really good here when you charge over a thousand for a week of traning. Specifically, you are making a commitment to learn this stuff since you want to get your money's worth of it. It is classic economics that when you don't charge anything for it, most of the market doesn't perceive it as worth anything. ... and if you don't have the money for this class, IMO don't complain that it is too expensive. Question why you don't have the money. Steve Ben Combee wrote: > Sorry, no kickbacks here.
