Well, I don't have concrete data, but any value will decrease battery 
consumption.  On my m515, you can audibly hear the processor, and calling 
EvtGetEvent with any timeout value (even 1) produces a mostly-off tone, 
instead of always on.

What basically matters is the time you wait compared to the time it takes 
between one EvtGetEvent returning and the next one starting.
