On a similar issue is it possible to run a copy on the palmOne proxy locally or 
should I ask this at palmone?

I think the version of Blazer on the Treo 270 (V2.0) requires a proxy 
server that's hosted by palmOne -- this means any web pages have to be 
visible to palmOne's systems; local web pages just aren't accessible.
