Now, I must be totally honest in saying that I am reluctant to
release too many details, because this code is part of a shareware
app of mine; I call it "PopLaunch". Or, it WILL BE a shareware app
when I finally get around to releasing it officially. Right now it
is freeware beta, as it has been for over a year :/
Is that beta supposed to work in any meaningful way on a Tungsten E? Because
when I run it and click on the Config button, it just displays a form with a
few checkboxes (one for each hardware button) - but I see no way of assigning
which application should be run when that button is pressed. Also, the help for
that form suggests that more controls ought to be present besides the
checkboxes... Perhaps it works only on a Treo (or T5?) or is supposed to work
only in conjunction with another product (the Alarm)?
It's got a few rough edges... You have to turn OFF the "default"
checkbox to expose the other controls. I'm not sure how well it will
work on the TE, as I can't say that I recall any dedicated user f/b for
that device. It has been most heavily tested on Treo600, Treo650 and
T3, and there are some differences in how it behaves on each. For
instance, yesterday afternoon I checked how well it launches 'other'
apps from a sleeping T3 and that doesn't seem to be working right now,
at least on my development version of the app. A user asked me to clean
up that feature for his Treo and I guess I didn't validate the revisions
on the T3. Like I said, it's a little rough. Bob.
