It is important to choose the oldest OS your application will run on, and

see the need for any new application to support an OS older than 4.1

My friend has an idea for an application that will reduce some of the
tedium at his summer job. He owns an old HandSpring Visor that runs
3.5 (I think). It might actually run an older version. I think this
is a good reason to develop a new application that supports and older
OS ;-)
So you've got a good reason to include support for 3.5... perfect! Roger is right though; if you are selling your s/w then supporting pre OS4.1 will increase your customer base by probably <2%, so you have to balance that against the workload required. Usually not a good balance, so there has to be some other driving reason to go through the effort, such as helping out a friend. Bob.
