As for the present and specifically for Palm devices, the threat is minimal.
As I see, it can be of an advantage to be in a niche market. At least SOMETIMES :( On distribution of malware: I would guess that a placement of "50 free celebrity nudes as screen saver for PalmOS incl. crack!!!!" on Kazaa, eMule etc, would probably work.
