There are no problems with starting from scratch. It may be easier to use an existing engine (i.e. KHTML/WebKit...).
I am going to assume that you are referring to web browsers (?, correct me if I am wrong). *Blazer is pretty good. In my opinion, it has the better rendering engines. the only problem is that it is bigger and slower (at loading) and it crashes on exit (because of the NVFS system). *Opera Mini is still very basic. I don't like how it lays pages out. *Xiino, it is pretty good, but it is 100% proxy based. I am currently improving WAPUniverse (open source web browser) so that it supports current web technologies beyond WAP and WML. I don't discourage starting from scratch. Just out of curiosity, what are your plans? (I am pretty interested in this stuff). Regards, Donald C.
