on some devices the processor puts limitation on the ir operation and
any raw mode is impossible (this is the OMAP processor devices. Also
sony HHE processor is undocumented so it is hard to deal with). On all
recent palms (the PXA processor) you can freely set the IR out pin as
a gpio pin and freely write to it as you wish, sending out any signal
you want.

Hello,

The research that I'm currently doing right now for the Palm OS 5 doesn't
involve infrared communications or the like, but I was wondering if its
possible to develop a program that could capture raw input from a device so
that I could analyze it, and then send out very specifice infrared input (that
I would program of course).

I just want to make sure that there aren't any limits placed on infrared
communications by the OS that I might not know about.

I've been poking around the forum archives using Google and I've found some
good stuff here, but I can't find the IRCommunications program mentioned at the
PluggedIn forums. I downloaded the SDK and the AboutSamples.txt file mentioned
it, but the directory wasn't there! Could somebody e-mail the source code to
me if you have it? Maybe they decided to take it out in the later updates.

Thanks for your time,
WBurt
