I oversee the root installation on our servers, I do hardware, at the Intel ManEngine.level, dabble in ASM thus Admin level tends to be mostly babble to me.. esp when a conflict arises such as the list of impressive features Paludis has over Portage, particularly in tag defined package installs ( where Portage simply dumps the whole lot onto the drive , from mem).. and a lightweight Python free ( crypto free ) install path.
I get complaints from Devs that claims Paludis make are out of date and the issues spoken about Portage no longer apply.. is that true ? I specified the lightest GenToo kernel build possible , with WiFI and email disabled ( they enabled it) with ability to remove Portage completely, (that I can't see possible, as Portage remains to manage packages, whether u like it or not) admittedly they delivered a 5MB kernel ( no X) but in Portage. Is there a Paludis expert, for a fee, deliver a GenToo build tool that allows Wayland in Gnome to manage hopefully Weston instead of X clients .. as per RHEL 7.5 ? Before the heat in our dept cracks the glass.. Thank you. _______________________________________________ paludis-user mailing list paludis-user@lists.exherbo.org http://lists.exherbo.org/mailman/listinfo/paludis-user
