Quite often (recently it's getting to be very often) I find packages
which seem to have a block on earlier, installed versions of
themselves:
* app-cdr/k3b::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: app-cdr/k3b-1.0.5-r5:3.5::gentoo
* net-irc/konversation::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: net-irc/konversation-1.1-r1:3.5::gentoo
* virtual/perl-IO-Compress-Base::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: perl-core/IO-Compress-2.020:0::gentoo
* virtual/perl-IO-Compress-Zlib::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: perl-core/IO-Compress-2.020:0::gentoo
* perl-core/IO-Compress-Base::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: perl-core/IO-Compress-2.020:0::gentoo
* perl-core/IO-Compress-Zlib::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: perl-core/IO-Compress-2.020:0::gentoo
* perl-core/Compress-Zlib::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: perl-core/IO-Compress-2.020:0::gentoo
* media-libs/gst-plugins-bad::installed [! blocking]
Reasons: media-libs/gst-plugins-base-0.10.22:0.10::installed
Previously, I have handled this by uninstalling the installed packages
which are causing the block and done a "paluding --install world"
which re-installs the packages with an updated version. However, this
isn't very good as it means I have to wait for world to install before
being able to use the app again. Also, in this case, paludis
--uninstall k3b will also remove it from world and thus wont get
re-installed by paluding --install world. Instead, I have started
doing "paludis --install world --dl-blocks discard" - But it feels
very dangerous it discards all blocks, even those which might be there
for a good reason.
How do other people get around this issue?
Cheers,
Tom
