Instead, I have started > doing "paludis --install world --dl-blocks discard" - But it feels > very dangerous it discards all blocks, even those which might be there > for a good reason. > > How do other people get around this issue? > > after installing the new package remove the old version that blocks. in this way you'll still have the package in world and you would remove the block. the problem will rise again if you still have something that specifically needs the old blocking package. as for k3b it's there since some of the old 3.5 versions aren't prefixed and so they block the new kde4 non prefixed apps. this is the main reason why i really hate the hard masking of the -kdeprefix for kde4 and because i still haven't understood how to unmask the use flag.
