Hello Virginia

Bones and Mike explained it very well, so I want to tell you only a
quick example: when I'm designing a new card model I need several
programs to do the job:
- Blender for 3D and unfolding
- Inkscape for postprocessing and layouting the final parts;
sometimes for texturing
- Gimp for doing texturing and final graphics
- Blender / Rendering / OpenOffice for writing the instructions
OK, you can do this in ONE desktop, no question. But doing this
in 4 virtual desktops each containing a complete customize application
makes switching a between them a lot easier an more comfortable. As
you can see: Bones, Mike and I are Linux users, so there is no need to
install any additional tools because in Linux we have virtual desktops
since 1993 ...
... and one thing I always hated when using windoze was having only
ONE desktop ... :(
Hope this helps.
Best regards, Wolfgang
