I have been "on the bench" for about 45 days now... although I have been contributing to projects remotely. I am in software implementation consulting and everyone feels the contraction of the economy. I just don't do very well at working in only one place. Consulting tends to allow one a bit of arms-length perspective with the client's business and politics. On the other hand I don't want to be independent if I can help it because I hate dealing with the billing, etc. Anyway, enjoy!
