I used to like NGC, but like you have found it to be nothing much
worth watching anymore.  Same with Discovery, The Learning Channel,
The History Channel, etc. etc, ad nauseum.  They all seem to going the
"reality show" way where most of the time there is no actual
information given and most of the time everyone is bitching about or
at each other.  Even The Weather Channel is going down hill.  I used
to tune in and see people talking about the weather.  Lately it has
been tune in and see a commercial, or some show about how it used to
be or how its gonna be or how it used to gonna be etc.  Also, too many
shots of one of the OCM's at a place where a hurricane is coming
ashore and talking about how windy and rainy it is.  No s**t Sherlock,
it's a freakin' hurricane.
