Google is about as "locked" as Yahoo in that they are merchants selling
advertising and, upon sufficient payment, give open access to mail,
groups, etc to spammers. This allows spammers to join and post in any
group even if the membership is closed or moderated. In effect they gain
a "superuser" status even above the group owner when it comes to posting.
