Ok, here's something similar which happened to a different comic purveyor.

Turns out the software which gets downloaded in that situation goes after a
vulnerabilty in Adobe Acrobat Reader. To fix it, disable Javascript in
Reader. Well, they run the Spybot software or some such.

It seems reasonable to think that the banners in Comics.com could have been
partially affected, also. It didn't strike everyone - just the occasional
viewer.

But I'd definitely start taking action to remove the software. Try Spybot
S&D or some other malware remover.
