Thank you.  I think I got the idea for it when trying to assemble this
model of a Rhombic Triacontahedron:

The angles between the faces are so flat that it was virtually
impossible to to get them aligned just using tabs, which is how I'd
originally drawn the plans.  I had read a little about pop-up books
(in particular, Lothar Meggendorfer's), so I knew that sewing was used
for them, as well as bookbinding, and I made the connection.  I think
sewing and paper are a good combination.  It also makes it easier to
disassemble models.
