Hi Susie, 1- Make sure you DONT get an pci-express. They are not the same thing. 2- You can still get AGP cards, but not plain pci cards that are good enough for today's standards. 3- The fact that you only have 1 x 64mb card in you machine (which is part of the motherboard), anything you get that is more may not help with playing of games. The rest of your machine is a main factor on if you can play games that require high power. When you do replace it, you have to tick all the boxes with the minimum equipment specs. 4 - There are 2 main chips on graphic cards - 1 is NVidia and the other is ATI. You will have to do some hard work to interchange between the 2 - so I would suggest you find out which one you have and keep with that. 5 - You need to make sure that you have enough power pumping out of your machine to run the card. Those that have high memory on them with a cooling fan sometimes need power. If you only have a low powered pack in your computer, you will not be able run the card.
But on a good note, all these cards, regardless of which one you get, are easy enough to install. They are all plug and play and generally found when you start up. To help out, I would suggest you join up with a computer help group that I'm a member of (not active as much as I used to be) and they will help you with it all. :) They are a good bunch of people. I'd try to help you myself, but I'm going to be rarely home for the next couple of weeks, and I don't have enough time either. :s Though, I know there are a lot of computer competent people on this papermodels list too! Great bunch of people the lot of them. ;) Anyway the tech group is - http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/A-Helping-Hand/ It's all free and voluntary. I've been a member for 10 years! Wow! They haven't had a lot of activity lately, but there are a couple of diehard mods who will help. :D Cheers, Mandy On 30 April 2011 17:47, Susie <[email protected]> wrote: > I need a better video card in my computer.
