Howdy Bones,
On a test piece, try a coat of Future Acrylic Floor Wax that may be applied with a brush or cosmetic sponge; clean them with Windex. Allow the piece a day or two dry time. Gloss finish will be determined by the number of coatings. More coatings result in a stronger part by turning the paper into plastic. Testors Dull Coat Lacquer may be applied to tone down the gloss where needed. You may be delighted with the results especially on such a large project. This has been a great model to build so far. Not for the faint hearted though, no instructions apart from the butt, so it's been a "suck it and see" kind of effort. So far the receiver, fore stock, magazine and barrel are finished and if you think the mag and barrel were fun then you have a weird sense of humour !! Once done a nice coat of flat clear will hide my butchery in a providential way. I cheated with the bore which is inserted inside the barrel, by only making a short 90mm piece instead of the full length. The worst part is trying to keep a twist out of the whole thing, being long and narrow it's a constant fight to try and remain straight. Time is also a problem, in our business we're flat out here like a lizard drinking...a bit of a break would be nice :)~~ More to come as I travel the road to finishing me a fancy shootin' iron that I can load on Sunday and shoot all week long !.
