Maybe. Maybe it's just the absurd amount of heap required during
compilation. At any event, you can still do a binary install --
install PAR::Dist first, and do this:
perl -MPAR::Dist
-e"install_par(q(http://aut.dyndns.org/par/PAR-0.71-MSWin32-x86-multi-thread-5.6.1.par))"
and it should install itself.

Interesting. I now and then see tempfile that fails rmdir(). I'll
certainly trace it more in the future.
