As mentioned elsewhere, you could hide the compiler temporarily by renaming the C++ 
bin 
dir or renaming the cl.exe or taking the C++ bin dir out of your path. Uninstalling is 
a little drastic :)

Do you mean running "nmake test" is crashing other parts of your system? If so, 
something outside of the PAR package must be corrupted.
