I tried this yesterday and it causes a fatal error. I do not remember
what the error messages were.

Yes, and the installation of the new PAR-0.970_01 should not have
interfered with the then installed pp.
I tried to repeat the problem this morning by reinstalling PAR-0.970_01
the normal way and pp still worked. I then did "look
S/SM/SMUELLER/PAR-0.970_01.tar.gz" within the CPAN prompt again, and pp
still worked, which leaves the question of what happened to pp yesterday
is unanswered. There are no such things as flukes. From time to time,
however, there are, let us say, "middle-aged" moments, wherein my mind
might skip a beat. I am not saying it does, but, hmm, on second
thought, I guess there are such things as flukes.
I am going to forget this issue, unless it happens to someone else.
