First of all, yes you are correct on all points, and all I did I guess
was offer an unneeded clarification.
My knowledge of Perl and PAR does not extend beyond what I have already
offered. Does anyone else have any knowledge in this area?

I agree that the problem of cross-platform deployment
is about modules (libraries) and system calls, as this
was the gory point with my first message. I also
mentioned possible solutions to it, in case they are
not already present. If you are on a linux machine,
for example, you can compile using gcc for a target
platform different than linux, and have a binary that
will indeed work on that platform. So, if one uses a
perl module that requires c code, one could either
load a pre-compiled module from the net, or compile
the module for that platform and pack it into the PAR.
It is not rocket science, the technology is already
available, it is only a matter of whether this
technology is used by PAR. If not, it should, because
it is useful, it is possible, and it is also easy to
do. But I am just repeating myself. So is PAR ... up
to par with technology? If not, is this from me a new
idea? If not, why it has not been developed already?
