Hi Elenor,
I know what you are refering to as far as the street lights go. I have had
similar eperiences, in my town and in other areas....but it doesnt always
happen nor with any particular light. I read somewhere that this was a
phenomena associated with "sliders" or people who are "sensitives" But am not
sure that there is any truth to that theory.
The thing about this is that street lights have photo sensors which could
be a part of the equation for explaining what occurs....they sometimes become
faulty.
To get a better and unbiased perspective on this "phenomenon" lets look at
how street lights work and the different types of lights that are used in the
city and rural areas...
Some of the yellow glow type street lights use low pressure sodium bulbs
which can slow flicker over a period of a few years. These are the older types
of street lights, introduced in the late 50's or 60's. Sometimes a person will
be walking or driving right under and they will go out (or turn back on) but
that has to do with the photoelectric device as well as the type of gas and
element going out...
High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps : these babies usually take between 1
and 5 minutes to reach full brightness, and if there is a dip in electricity,
these lamps will shut off. It will take about 10 minutes for them to come back
on.
Then we have mercury Vapor lamps which dont typically flicker or turn off
they just dim after a few years even if they have the same amount of wattage.
I doubt this is the type you are walking under...
Metal Halide Lamps- these types are a lot like the Mercury vapor, they
just dont last as long, and are not usually found in streets, mainly in indoor
parking lots.
the type of lamp i think you are refering to when you walk under it, is
the High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamp, now commonly used around the US in street
lights. The lamps were developed in the early 1970s and are more energy
efficent than mercury and metal hallide lamps.
These lamps give off an amber color and last for long periods of time.
They begin to incur problems when they near the end of their life. They will
"cycle," which means they turn themselves off and come back on a minute later.
So another question you have to ask yourself is, "why one street light, why
not the lights inside my home?" I honestly dont think this is a paranormal
matter, but I could be way off. Of course i can....
You can report this street light to the city and have them replace the bulb
and then take a walk under it as you normally do, to see if something happens
or not...
I offer these explanations as i think a healthy dose of skepticism is good
when it comes to discovering and learning truths about things. One cannot be
so gullable.
Its a process of elimination, and not at all discrediting anything spiritual
or psychihc. Some folks just want to deny anything they dont understand, and
are just plain lazy or afraid of not being able to explain something...but in
most so called paranormal claims, 90% of the time, they can be explained.
Ive been conducting research and investigating claims of paranormal
(including my own home) since 1992, and have had a few strange experiences
myself with the paranormal since age 3. So I know it can often be confusing
as to what is part of our 3rd dimensional reality and what is not.
I would like to learn about any psychic or spiritual experiences you've had,
if you feel comfortabnle with sharing ...
Thank you, alex
