What you need to do is: - Compile Mesa with OSMesa support - Compile ParaView against this Mesa with OSMesa support turned on - Run pvserver (make sure that the Mesa libraries are in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH on the cluster) with --use-offscreen You don't even have to disable compositing if you wanted to use software rendering on the server. OSMesa does not depend on x11.
