Infant Formula Containing Lutein in Singapore
On
20th Feb 2009, The New Straits Times of Singapore published an article
which referred to the recall of infant formula products in Singapore
containing lutein.
Lutein
is currently approved for use in our formula in many markets around the
world including China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Mexico, UAE, Indonesia,
Colombia, Ecuador and Central America but has not yet received
marketing authorization in Singapore.
Lutein has undergone extensive clinical testing which shows that it is safe for
use in infant formula.
On
13 February 2009 the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore
(AVA) issued a circular to remind importers and declaring agents that
products or infant formula containing lutein are not yet approved for sale in
Singapore.
This circular was issued because parallel imports of such products have been
found in Singapore.
This action addresses a regulatory matter, and is not a safety issue.
Wyeth
has applied for authorization to market our formula containing lutein
in Singapore, and that application is currently pending a decision by
the AVA.

Saya baru denger kabar dari sepupu saya di Singapore, ternyata produk Wyeth di
tarik karena Lutein yang ada di dalamnya adalah pewarna makanan yang sebenernya
gak ada pengaruhnya ke nutrisi anak. Yang bikin saya bingung lagi kenapa BPOM
sini sah sah aja yah ngebiarin klaim kaya gini di susu anak??????
Gimana bisa tenang ya kalau dikit dikit ada isu sakazaki, melanin, bahkan
ditambah lagi pewarna makanan. yang saya juga gak yakin ada tindakan lanjutnya
di Indonesia...
Kalau kaya gini harusnya lapor kemana sih? tolong bantuannya.
